for solo female voice, explores qualities of silence and of breathing as inherent parts of the music. It is inspired in part by ancient traditions of Bulgarian singing and Serbian orthodox chant, with melodic fragments arising from and returning to a fixed tonal centre, and by harmonic chant, a form of singing that brings vocal harmonics into the foreground.
